He has conducted academic research in the field of communication specialising in Public Service Broadcasting in community development and HIV/AIDS reporting looking at Motsweding FM as a case study. He researched public service broadcasting in terms of the concept of ‘total citizen empowerment’ taking into consideration appalling situation most South Africans find themselves in pertaining to the provision of information as a right rather than as a privilege. Broadcasting institutions have a tremendous role in transforming the citizens of this country by providing them with pertinent and accurate information in an attempt to overpass an existing gulf of information-rich and information-poor society, to facilitate informed decision making among citizens. Let us work together to make the University of Zululand a world-class university.
