About
Ms. Zipho N. Snyman is currently studying towards a Doctor of Philosophy in Criminology and Forensic Studies (UKZN). She holds a Master of Social Sciences degree in Criminology. She is currently appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Criminal Justice, at the University of Zululand. She has represented the Department of the Criminal Justice on the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Research Ethics Committee. Also represented the Department of Criminal Justice on the University of Zululand Library Committee. Coordinated undergraduate programme for the Department of Criminal Justice. Tutor coordinator for the Department of the Criminal Justice.
Before taking up this position she was a contract lecturer for the Discipline of Criminology and Forensic Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
Prior to the above-mentioned job positions she was an intern for the Department of Community Safety and Liaison in the KwaZulu-Natal Province (Pietermaritzburg) where she was monitoring and evaluating police performance in the KwaZulu-Natal Province. She was mostly responsible for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of policing policies and directives by the South African Police Service (SAPS) National and Provincial commissioners, as well as monitoring and evaluating the service delivery of the police in the Province. She worked closely with the SAPS as well as community structures, and communities served by the SAPS. She has vast experience in industry related report writing, and drafting of questionnaires and surveys, used for conducting and collecting data from police officials and community members. She attended monthly Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) meetings with the Department of Community Safety and Liaison Secretariat, SAPS, and IPID directors. She also dealt with complaint cases, such as stock theft, sexual offenses, domestic violence, Gender-Based Violence and crime related matters
