About
Shalo Mbatha is a Lecturer at the Department of History at the University of Zululand, South Africa. She was a Courseware developer at Technikon SA (now UNISA); Curriculum developer in Tranby Aboriginal College in Sydney, Australia; a qualified Translator & Interpreter in German and Spanish; a published author of a ground breaking and best-seller history book about the Zulu nation called ‘uZulu umlando nobuqhawe bukaZulu. She worked at the Gauteng Film Commission responsible for marketing the province to the international film industry to shoot both films and adverts. She also worked in various government departments in strategic levels such as in the provincial department of Education in Limpopo & national Department of Arts and Culture; Gauteng Office of the Premier and Robben Island Museum. She has a sterling record as an investigative journalist and broke many stories that changed many people’s lives. Amongst some of her achievements was to be a recipient of the Gauteng Women Trail Blazer Finalist award; the South African Special Envoy to Canada for four months; a member of the Presidential Fact Finding Mission in Dafur, Sudan; the Media Fact Finding in Palestine and Israel; Rhodes University Courageous Journalist of the Year Finalist.
