About
Dr Mandisa S Makhaye is lecturer in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Zululand. Her research interests are transforming safety and security in institutions of higher education and Gender-Based Violence. Dr Makhaye has been previously awarded the British Council Researcher Link grants in collaboration with the Newton Fund and DHET. She has attended various international and national conferences and published in accredited journals. In 2023, Dr Makhaye was awarded the UNIZULU Vice Chancellors Excellence award in recognition as an Emerging Researcher. Dr Makhaye serves as an assistant editorial board member for the journal Acta Criminologica.. Dr Makhaye is the vice president for the network Developing African Women in Academia (DAWA), member of the Criminological Society of Africa (CRIMSA), and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWGRN).
