About

Dr Rejoyce Hlengiwe Phetha is a Political and International Studies lecturer at the University of Zululand. Her research interests include among others peacekeeping and conflict resolution, International relations, youth development, gender and corruption. She has also undertaken research on South Africa’s foreign policy, access to education, employment and unemployment and corruption. Dr Phetha had worked as research assistant for Prof Ndlovu and Prof Mkhize (both from UKZN) where a study was conducted for National Department of Tourism on Governance and Coordination of coastal and marine tourism and a study on adoption and indigenous knowledge systems (Afrikology centre).

Dr. Phetha obtained her Master degree in International Relations from the University of Kwazulu-Natal, BA degree, B Soc Science Honours; all from the same University. Dr Phetha had worked as contract lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, research Intern at Mzala Nxumalo Centre, Pietermaritzburg, Political Science Intern at the Department of Health (KZN), MEC Office. She has held various administrative portfolios from a Tutor, to Usher, Mentor, Administrator and Residence Assistant Manager at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She was awarded a Golden Key International member for excellent academic achievement for her Master’s degree results, a certificate for presenting a paper at the 3rd BRICS Conference for Young Scientists, Durban.

A member of the National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIHSS). Dr Phetha has a keen interest on international relations, youth development, gender based, corruption and ICT. Dr Phetha is also a member of Organization for Women in Science for developing world (OWSD) and The World Academy of Science (TWAS).
