About
| Dr Lucas Mafu is an academic, researcher and author who has been teaching English and Literature in English for several years, initially in the schools’ sector and then in higher education. He joined the Department of English in October 2011 as a lecturer. He was course coordinator for English 1 from 2013-2016 and English 3 from 2017-2021. He has also coordinated the BA Honors in English 1EN520 Theory of Literature Paper for several years. Dr Mafu’s research interests and contributions explore race, ethnicity, gender, nationalism and literary theory. He has authored several academic articles and works of fiction with notable publications including ‘Discourse structures, Weaponization of Language and Ethiopia’s Civil War’ (2024), ‘The Libyan/Trans-Mediterranean Slave Trade, the African Union, and the Failure of Human Morality’ (2019), ‘Land, Race and Victimhood in Peter Godwin’s When a Crocodile Eats the Sun’ (2019) as well as other publications on Sol Plaatje, Yvonne Vera and NoViolet Bulawayo. His scholarly work is available on platforms like ResearchGate and Academia.edu and on Google Scholar. |
