About

Ms. Nokwazi Mthembu is currently appointed as Lecturer in the Department of History at the University of Zululand. She lecturers both undergraduates and postgraduates’ students. She is enrolled for a PhD in History at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Furthermore, Ms Mthembu is a Mentor under HER-SA, a mentorship programme designed for women leaders in higher education. The purpose of mentoring is to support women in higher education both in the academic and support areas in achieving personal mastery and career success within the higher education environment. Ms Mthembu is also a community engagement scholar. She’s been actively involved in different community engagement projects within the university of Zululand. furthermore, Nokwazi Mthembu is a history and political opinion columnist for the Zululand Observer Newspaper. Additionally, she is a passionate historian. Her research interest are on, Black Consciousness, Human trafficking in Africa, Indigenous knowledge systems, historiography of South Africa and economic history.
