About

Dr Khumalo E. Khayelihle is lecturer in the Department of African Languages and Culture at the University of Zululand. Before taking this position, he was working as a language teacher under iLembe District in KwaZulu-Natal. He has a huge experience of being a Senior Marker of a NSC isiZulu Paper 1. Dr Khumalo has been previously awarded by the UCDP formal qualifications grants. He has attended and chaired a variety of local, national and international conferences and published book chapters  in an accredited journals. He is a member of African Partnership Universities Alliance (APUO) which promotes interaction and dialogues among African scholars. He is also a Cultural and Indigenous Knowledge Systems expert. His research interest is on Culture, Heritage, Onomastics, Language Policy and Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. He is a member of numerous committees within the institution. He is also a supervisor for a post-graduates students. He is a reviewer for a numerous linguistic and cultural high impact journals. He is a member of a Digital Cultural Dictionary Project which sponsored by the Department of Sport Art and Culture. He is strongly attached to the African pillars such as Ubuntu, respect and discipline. His community engagement entails working with Luthuli Museum in Groutville towards preservation of Luthuli’s legacy and Culture. He has successfully graduated honours and masters candidates. He is having a good working relations with Amafa KaZulu Institute.
