About
Dr Kanagie Naidoo holds a B-Proc degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Howard College), a Master of Laws (LLM) from UNISA, and a Doctor of Laws (LLD) from the University of Zululand, specialising in the Law of Evidence. She is an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with 27 years of experience as a Regional Court Prosecutor and Legal Practitioner. Dr Naidoo is a Senior Lecturer and BA Honours Coordinator in the Department of Criminal Justice, with 19 years of teaching experience in Procedural Law and the Law of Evidence.
She is actively involved in the supervision of postgraduate students in the LLM, LLD, MA, and PhD programmes and serves as an external examiner for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at various institutions of higher learning. She is also a member of numerous institutional committees.
Dr Naidoo’s academic and professional interests centre on the Law of Evidence and Criminal Procedure. She has been engaged in litigation in the field of criminal law for the past 26 years. Her scholarly contributions include co-authoring two books on Criminal Procedure, namely Law Lifeline: Law of Criminal Procedure (2010), published by LexisNexis, and Criminal Procedure in South Africa (2020), published by Oxford University Press. She has also contributed expert content to The Law of Evidence in South Africa: Basic Principles (2019), authored by Bellengere, Palmer and others. Dr Naidoo has presented papers at the South African Association of Law Teachers Conference and the MBALI International Conferences.
