Shaikh Mohammad Kais is Professor of Sociology at the University of Rajshahi in Bangladesh.
He conducted his doctoral research on climate change resilience at the Nanyang Technological
University in Singapore. His areas of research and interest include food culture, community
resilience, climate politics, aquaculture, human-animal relationship, and the development of
sociology in the global South. By now, he has published a number of research articles in peer reviewed journals on Durkheimian analysis of contemporary American society, global food regimes, hybrid sociology, climate change, shrimp farming, community resilience, ecological modernization, disaster management, death events, and ethnic issues. Being a member of the International Sociological Association (ISA) since 2009, he has already represented the
Bangladesh Sociological Association (BSA) in several meetings of the ISA. Currently, he is a member of the executive committee of the ISA
