About

Dr Judy Dlamini is a lecturer and Work Integrated Learning Coordinator at the Department of Communication Science at Richards Bay Campus, University of Zululand. She holds a doctoral degree in Communication Science from the University of Zululand. Title: Managing Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) at a Comprehensive University: A Communication Science Perspective. Dr Dlamini is an emerging researcher with publications of book chapters and articles. She has experience and knowledge of research in Digital Communication, International Communication, Organizational Communication, Media & Work Integrated Learning. Annually she attends and present in conferences of Teaching & Learning, Women and International Conference on Media Science and Digital Communication. She is an undergrad and postgrad lecturer. She is a supervisor for honours, masters and doctoral students. Dr Dlamini views each student as a unique individual who deserves a stimulating educational environment where they can grow mentally, emotionally, and socially.

Her goal is to create a classroom atmosphere that encourages students to discover their voices, express their opinions, and listen to one another thoughtfully and freely, regardless of the specific learning objectives of the course. She prioritises developing students who can communicate and listen effectively, as these skills are essential for fostering a collaborative, respectful, and productive learning environment. To achieve this, she employs a variety of teaching methods and approaches, including the flipped classroom approach and collaborative learning, as well as the VARK model and innovative technological tools. These strategies are designed to enhance student engagement and cater to diverse learning styles. She has connected the University of Zululand with Industry partners in the field of Media & Public Relations across South Africa. Students registered in the Diploma in Media Studies or Public Relations Management complete their qualification with six months training in the industry. Students are placed, monitored by Dr. Dlamini and evaluated by her and the colleagues in the department of Communication Science
