About
Nelson is literature lecturer. His specialty is African literature (poetry and prose). He joined the University of Zululand in 2020. Before joining the University of Zululand, Nelson was a tutor, part-time lecturer and Faculty Research Assistant at the University of Limpopo. He has published two articles. Nelson is also a poet and storyteller, and has published a collection of poems entitled It Begins Here (2019) published by Staging Post (an imprint of Jacana Media Publishing). He has read his poetry and stories and told oral ones at many events, including the International Poetry Week (2013), National Library Symposiums and Annual Poetry Slam (2015/16) and Polokwane Poetry Slam (2017/18). Nelson was a longstanding member of the Turf Poetry Society and University of Limpopo Debate Team.
He is studying towards a PhD in English Studies (on Ben Okri) at the University of Limpopo
