Master’s degree (full dissertation) in Africa Studies (Cum laude) (University of the Free State), BA Honours in Anthropology (UWC), Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of the Western Cape (UWC).
About
Dr Ntsofa Classper Monyela is currently a Lecturer in Anthropology (teaching both undergraduate and Honours levels) in the Department of Anthropology and Development Studies at the University of Zululand. He is pursuing a PhD in Anthropology, focusing on An Inquiry into the Intellectual Biography of Makhosezwe Bernard Magubane. He serves as a member of the Teaching and Learning Committee in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) and as the departmental coordinator for Teaching and Learning in the Honours programme.
Dr Monyela is actively involved in the supervision of postgraduate students in both the Honours and Master’s Anthropology programmes and serves as an external examiner for Master’s dissertations at various institutions of higher learning. He chaired the 2nd Anthropology and Development Studies Annual International Conference (24–25 August 2023) and coordinated the Scientific Committee for the 3rd Annual International Conference.
Additionally, Dr Monyela previously served as Treasurer and Executive Board Member of the Anthropology Southern Africa (ASnA) Association. He was also an Editorial Board Member for the book project titled COVID-19, a Vista of Shame: Humanities and Social Sciences Perspectives. Prior to joining the University of Zululand, He worked as an academic facilitator for the first-year Sociology programme in the Department of Sociology at the University of the Free State and as a tutor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of the Western Cape.
