About

Frances Ringwood teaches in warm, lively classrooms, sharing her insights on English literature with great enthusiasm. She spends her days reading verse from the fourteenth century while developing a thesis on the fragile human body how it was seen as a kind of prison, vulnerable to constant injury in an age when suffering was widespread and remedies were scarce. It was a world long before penicillin, when even simple ailments could become life-threatening.
