About
Dr Sibonakaliso Shadrack Nhlabathi lectures in the Department of Anthropology and Development Studies at the University of Zululand, South Africa. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Geography) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Durban). His PhD thesis was entitled: Motivations to engage in dark tourism: The case of selected sites in South Africa. Dr SS Nhlabathi is passionate about research on Urban Geography, and Urban and Regional Planning. When combined with Geographical Information Systems, these research areas produce exceptional information for urban and regional development and management.
Dr Nhlabathi finds Geographical Information Systems to be a powerful tool in mapping and identifying cases of Corona Virus which would facilitate bringing this virus under control. Apart from lecturing to both undergraduate and to post-graduate students, Dr Nhlabathi supervises Master’s degree students and has helped to produce a number of them. Dr Nhlabathi has published in Tourism and Geography journals.
