About
| Dr Petros N. Dlamini (PhD) is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Information Studies within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zululand, South Africa. He obtained both his Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree in 2004 and his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Library and Information Science in 2016 from the same institution. With over a decade of experience in the higher education, Dr Dlamini teaches undergraduate modules such as Cataloguing and Classification as well as Advanced Information Retrieval, Abstracting, and Indexing. His teaching approach blends theory and practice, equipping students with critical skills needed in the information profession. Beyond undergraduate teaching, Dr Dlamini is deeply engaged in postgraduate supervision. He has successfully supervised several master’s and doctoral students to completion, and he continues to guide several honours, master’s, and PhD candidates across diverse research areas in Library and Information Science. His mentorship contributes significantly to capacity building and the development of future scholars in the field. Dr Dlamini is also an active researcher who has published widely in accredited journals and contributed chapters to scholarly books. His research interests span knowledge management, indigenous knowledge systems, information retrieval, and the role of libraries in social and economic development. Through his scholarship, he seeks to address both theoretical and practical challenges facing the information profession, particularly in the African context. In addition to teaching and research, Dr Dlamini contributes to academic leadership and community engagement initiatives within and beyond the University of Zululand. His work continues to advance the discipline of Library and Information Science while fostering the growth of the next generation of information professionals and researchers. |
