About
Dr Onelisa Nomfundo Mbathu currently serves as a Lecturer in the Department of African Languages at the University of Zululand. She holds a Bachelor of Humanities degree, awarded in 2015 by the University of Johannesburg. She continued her postgraduate studies in African Languages at the same institution, obtaining a Bachelor of Honours degree in 2016 and a Master’s degree in 2019.
In 2021, she commenced her doctoral studies in African Languages at the University of Johannesburg and successfully completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2023. In addition to her academic achievements, she obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of South Africa (UNISA) in 2022.
She is an active member of the International Golden Key Honour Society, demonstrating her commitment to academic excellence and scholarly engagement. Her research interests span a wide range of areas, including African literature, onomastics, poetry, morphology, phonology, semantics, and sociolinguistics. She has presented her scholarly work at both national and international conferences.
