Dr Mfaniseni Wiseman Mbatha is a Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology and Development Studies at the University of Zululand. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Development Studies and has extensive experience in research, teaching, and community engagement. His scholarly interests span a range of interdisciplinary fields, particularly agricultural development, where he examines subsistence, small-scale, and commercial farming as critical livelihood strategies for rural communities.
He is deeply committed to advancing sustainable rural development and contributes to research on the impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations. Dr Mbatha is also actively involved in research and advocacy related to governance, democracy, and the implementation of Sustainable Livelihood Approaches. His work reflects a strong dedication to community engagement, aiming to bridge the gap between academia and society through the promotion of participatory development practices.
