Professor Dasarath Chetty

Professor Dasarath Chetty, a Project Executive at the Ethekwini Municipality, is also the CEO of DC Communications, Adjunct Professor at DUT and Visiting Professor at the Interdisciplinary Centre for the study of Childhoods and Societies at the University of Wuppertal in Germany. He currently serves as the President of the International Sociological Association’s (ISA) Research Committee on Participation, Organisational Democracy and Self Management.

He is also the former Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UKZN, President of Child Welfare South Africa, President of the South African Sociological Association (SASA), President of Marketing, Advancement and Communications in Education (MACE) and President of the UDW (UKZN) Convocation amongst other national and international leadership positions.

He has received 38 communications excellence awards and 11 community service awards from national and international stakeholders and has been an Editorial Board member of Current Sociology (official journal of the ISA) and of Society in Transition (official journal of SASA).
